Rare Otter spotter in De Naeyer (Willebroek) & Smeetshof (Limburg)

Otter spotted at Smeetshof (Kristijn Swinnen (UA))

An otter was caught on a night camera in the natural area De Naeyer in Willebroek, between Brussels and Antwerp. The animal is very rare is can hardly ever be seen by humans in Flanders. Environmentalists are happy with the news, the presence of an otter means that water quality must be better.

Recently, an otter was also caught on a night camera in the natural area Smeetshof in Limburg.

On the Belgian Bioarchaeological Inventory, which is a part of the Belgian Species List website, zooarchaeological findings of the otter in Belgium are shown.
